The Lone Star College-Montgomery fine arts department has an exciting lineup of theater, music and visual arts events planned for the upcoming fall semester. Art Gallery Exhibits
Aug. 29 through Sept. 23, 2016 – “Labor of Love” by Claire Cusack will be displayed. Closing reception Thursday, Sept. 22 at noon.
Oct. 10 through Nov. 4, 2016 – “Bienvenidos seres queridos” by curator Charlie Pena. Opening reception Monday, Oct. 10 at noon and closing reception Wednesday, Nov. 2 at noon.
Nov. 14 through Dec. 2, 2016 – “ART Exhibit” by Alton DuLaney. Opening reception Monday, Nov. 14 at noon.
Dec. 12 through Dec. 16, 2016 – Juried Student Art Show works will be displayed. Opening reception Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 5 p.m.
All art exhibits are free of charge and open to the public. All exhibits and artist receptions are held in the Mary Matteson-Parrish Art Gallery located in the Performing Arts Center (building D). Sept. 29 through Oct. 1 – Black Box Production “96 Minutes” an eyewitness account of the day Charles Whitman gunned down students, professors and others from the University of Texas Tower will be performed in the Black Box Theater (building D) Thursday, Sept. 29 – Saturday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. with a matinee performance Saturday, Oct. 1 at 3 p.m. Tickets: $5 general admission. Rating: R, contains adult language and situations.
Nov. 17 through Nov. 19 – “The Birds” is the adaptation of the short story that is the basis for the Alfred Hitchcock horror film and will be performed in the Mainstage Theatre (building D) Thursday, Nov. 17 – Saturday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. with a matinee performance Saturday, Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. Tickets: $5 Students/Faculty/Staff; $7 Seniors; $10 General Admission. There will be a preview performance Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 5:30 p.m. with free admission for Lone Star College students/employees and $5 general admission. Rating PG-13, parents are urged to be cautious. Some material may be frightening and inappropriate for pre-teenagers.
